Ruadhan's records

Ruadhan is a one-year-old red tabby male. As you can see from his capture photo, he was netted with another cat. The ID number they assigned on the log was not carried into the exam and he goes from being number 64 to 63. He is described on the 11/6 exam as having a very painful mouth and needing urgent dental work, but he isn't taken to the veterinary until 11/13 where he is described as having dental disease. On 2/28 and 3/16/20 he has a life-threatening UTI, but his mouth is normal. He is also noted as a caution cat. Ruadhan is home and has no signs whatsoever of any problems with his mouth. He seeks affection and is able to be picked up and held.

You can see on the log that C63 is described as grey/white while C64 is described as orange/white, so those are backwards.

Ruadhan Log

On the triage, they are described as aged 4-8 years, but they are 1 year old.

Ruadhan Triage

As described in the article Faulty Interpretations Lead to Wrong Conclusions, there are two copies of the 11/6/19 exam forms, one is incomplete and one is the original. This is the incomplete version.

Ruadhan Exam Incomplete

This is the original exam. The age is now correctly noted as 1-3 years. This is one of the more complete forms where the boxes are checked and items are circled. This is the cat they said had a very painful mouth, needed urgent dental work and was given a pain medication.

Ruadhan Exam

Just a mention of dental disease here. No dental work was done. It's barely seven days from a Convenia injection and he's getting another one. For what? A slight nasal discharge?

Now he's become a "caution feral" cat. The fact that the cats are acting feral just means they are extremely fearful of the humans around them, and given the way they've been treated, that isn't surprising. But the fact that the cats continue to be fearful months into custody is very disturbing. Ruadhan now has a life threatening UTI on 2/28/20 and again on 3/16/20. Notice how his "oral exam is normal." So with no treatment, he's gone from urgently needing dental work to having a normal mouth. Was the original exam incorrect? Is this exam incorrect? Did he heal on his own?
