Limper's records

Limper is an incredibly sweet, social, affection-seeking, three-year-old, red classic tabby, neutered male. It was completely unnecessary to grab him by the scruff and dangle him as shown in the state's capture photo below. In court, the assistant district attorney showed this photo to Fiske and asked if this was an example of how cats squint their eyes when they have virus symptoms. I was so disgusted I don't remember how Fiske responded. She knows as well as I do, and as many of you will, Limper has his eyes closed in this photo because he is cringing in pain. I have never held him like that and I've never seen anyone else hold him like that. You will see from his medical records he had just been to the veterinary in September and gotten his rabies vaccination. The state gave him a second unnecessary vaccination. You'll also note on his medical records the state suggesting amputation of his short right front leg which is a birth defect and causes him no problems at all.

Thankfully, Limper is back home safe and well with his leg intact. He was soon back to his favorite spot on the kitchen counter where he waylays his humans for attention. He then decided to spend more than a week in my office. I think he needed the extra attention.

As described in the article Faulty Interpretations Lead to Wrong Conclusions, there are two copies of the 11/6/19 exam forms, one is incomplete and one is the original. This is the incomplete version. Limper was missing that partially completed form, so they inserted this note into those February records. This is incorrect since we do have that initial exam record.

Limper Note

Notice in this exam the veterinarian writes "can't rule out past trauma" with regard to Limper's clear congenital defect. She also notes Limper as having a "mild mucoid discharge" from his eyes. I suppose this allows them to put him in the list of cats with virus symptoms. They are even giving him tobramycin to treat his eyes. He was just seen by the veterinarian in September. He had no symptoms at all. Too bad his eyes aren't open in the capture photo so we can see that. The fact that this cat, who is extremely mild-mannered, is noted as fearful is another indication of the state's inaccurate assessments, or inaccurate recordkeeing, or how aggressive and predatory a state seizure is for the animals. My cats have never experienced mistreatment of any kind in their lives, so I guess it's not surprising that so many are fighting back or scared to death.

Limper Exam

Limper's Falls Road record from 11/13/19 and 11/25/19 visits. Note that Limper is one of the cats afflicted with bloody diarrhea while under the care of the state and he comes down with it 20 days into custody. More importantly, see the note that says "May require leg amputation." Any reasonable caring person should be outraged by this statement. This would be intentionally maiming an animal, intentionally inflicting pain and suffering on an animal. Is this what they do to shelter cats? Maybe it's just an opportunity for this veterinarian to get some practice doing amputations. Limper has a birth defect. No other veterinarian has ever suggested amputating his leg. The state veterinarians cannot even describe it correctly. There is a nail and pad on the end of it, which should make it clear that it's a birth defect. Even this veterinarian admits "he gets around well with leg like this" so what reason is there for an amputation? This is like suggesting amputating the arms of Ryan Niemiller, the comedian from America's Got Talent. It's unconscionable.
