Errors

Some of the numerous errors made by the state. There were five animal welfare agents, two animal control officers, deputies, support staff from animal welfare and transport personnel from several Maine licensed shelters present at the seizure, and the shelter had access to more than sufficient personnel and veterinary services. Yet, despite all these resources, they couldn't keep the cats or the records straight. If this is how the business of animal welfare is managed by this state, we should all be concerned for the welfare of our animals.

Canice (C4) is actually three years old at this time. They didn't bother to add the case number. Canice was confined to the southern living room, so if he was found in the kitchen, then the state let the boys out of their room which would have caused even more stress on the cats.

Canice Triage

Wheezy (C10) is female.

Wheezy Log

Memphis (C15) is described with "mild clear discharge, crusting OS" on 11/6.

Memphis

Memphis is then described with "eyes are normal" two days later on 11/8 and "OU chemosis and conjunctivitis" four days later on 11/12.

Memphis

Orlagh (C36) is a year old friendly female. They didn't bother to add the location or case number.

Orlagh

Crazy (C14) is not blind. They didn't bother to add the case number or estimate her age.

Crazy

Ina (C14) is a 3-year-old female red tabby.

Ina

Margie (C20) is a 7-year-old spayed female. They didn't bother to add the location or case number.

Margie

Lulu (C27) is a 3-year-old very friendly spayed red and white female.

Lulu

Two days later, Lulu's stomatitis has turned into gingivitis and her "significant URI" has turned into "no treatment needed." And her sex is "unknown." The Falls Road records do not even try to approximate a correct age or indicate a color.

Margie

Ellie (C29) is a 2-year-old and absolutely sweetest cat ever.

Ellie

Pia (C56) is a 3-year-old raised on a bottle. Not the least bit feral. This form is missing the case number.

Pia

Caoimhe (C31) with no significant findings on 11/5. This is consistent with the kitten's history.

Caoimhe

Then three days later, Caoimhe shows up at Falls Road with very significant findings. How can this be the same cat? As with all Falls Road records, there is no sex, approximate age or color to help identify the cat. This information might have helped determine which cat was actually seen.

Caoimhe

Tiggy (C77) is an 8-year-old spayed feral female described on Triage as 1-3 years and likely pregnant. She is outside and feral, so does the state assume she is not spayed and also assume her extra weight must be pregnancy? This is more indication of the tendency toward bias instilled into the current animal welfare system in Maine.

Tiggy

Sierra (C49) an affectionate 4-year-old red and white female with medium length hair, described only as an orange and white adult with long hair on Triage, as fearful on the Exam, then as a male at Falls Road where they state "today I unable to check him at all." This cat's records lacked identifying information and what little information was provided was not accurate. Along with many other cats, I was unable to determine who C49 was until I got photos in early February of 2020.

Sierra

Fairway (C16) is a very friendly 3-year-old neutered cream male described on Triage as feral and buff/white. He is not feral and has only a small white spot on his chest.

Fairway

Then he is described as 4-6 years old and social on the exam two days later.
