Ardal's records

Ardal is a one-year-old red and white tabby male. He's a very handsome, active, happy cat, highly affection-seeking and responsive to affection, but he doesn't look very happy here. This cat was pacing and highly active with an attention-seeking purpose in his cage when I visited them in January. He was one of only four cats seeking attention. I don't know if he or the others were responding to my presence or had adjusted to their situation and were responding to any people nearby. I was trying not to alert any of them to my presence because I didn't want to upset them, but cats have highly developed senses of smell and sound.

Ardal is back home and safe for now. He is aggressive, bites and attacks me and the other cats, something he never did before. After a month, the aggression is dissipating, but I think he is probably still angry with me for not protecting him from the terror, and who can blame him?

Ardal Log

On the triage, he is described as aged 4-6 years, but he was 1 year old at the time. They describe him as yellow and white. He is red and white.

Ardal Triage

As described in the article Faulty Interpretations Lead to Wrong Conclusions, there are two copies of the 11/6/19 exam forms, one is incomplete and one is the original. The one below is the incomplete form. Notice male is circled and the notation "intact" is added. These do not appear on the complete form.

Ardal Exam Incomplete

This is the original exam. For some reason, Ardal escapes getting Convenia and instead gets only the more traditional azithromycin and tobramycin for his runny nose and eyes. He is to be treated for 10 days.

Ardal Exam

It is now 13 days later, so Ardal should have finished getting his antibiotics three days prior and should certainly have no symptoms whatsoever at this point. Instead, he is found to have runny eyes and nasal discharge. This is not possible if he was treated as directed. Logic tells me he was not treated as directed from 11/6/19, probably because those antibiotics require handling the cat and the shelter staff is unable to manage him to treat him. Now he's given Convenia and the shelter staff will not have to worry about treating him with less expensive, safer, likely more effective antibiotics.

Ardal Falls Road

Ardal has now been in the state's custody for four months. He has come down with a urinary tract infection. They give him more Convenia.
